In 2012, the nation celebrates the Diamond Jubilee - 60 years of our Queen's reign. Nassington is holding a 'Party in the Park' - bring your own picnic, or buy a cream tea or a burger, join in the games and party the night away to a mega disco and live music
A contingent from the Yarwell and Nassington Britannia Band will be playing a short set for us and Dave the Clown will be entertaining the younger revellers from about 4pm. Fiona Cumberpatch is manning the exhibition tent with keepsakes, curios and memories from the coronation, the first diamond jubilee and through the years, as well as some of the children's work. We have hired a few loos and would ask that theses are kept for the use of the ladies and children - there are plenty of facilities for chaps in the pavilion, but only one for women. These loos are designed to deal with most wastage, including sanitary products, but NOT NAPPIES. There will be a BBQ from about 6pm onwards, with burgers and hotdogs for sale at modest prices, courtesy of Nassington Cubs and Scouts. There will also be cakes and cocktails for sale, again at not-to-missed prices from the Twinning Committee. It is anticipated that the disco will start at around 6pm, with music that some of our smaller party fanatics will enjoy, with the evening progressing to cover all sorts of exciting musical treats from the past 60 years Dress Code - Dress to impress! Anything you'd like from the last 60 years or a traditional red white and blue ensemble.
Sunday June 3rd
The afternoon is starting with a fly past by WWII Lancaster Bomber - currently scheduled for about 2.40pm (Timings are beyond our control!)
VOLUNTEERS needed - if you could spare some time on Saturday afternoon to help erect the smaller tents or help with the bunting, it would be very much appreciated. Howerver, if you are busy with your own bunting, that's good too!! Here's an idea of where everything will be (not to scale!)
