In and Out of the Workhouse: Tutor: Liz Carter

A detailed examination of the Victorian/Edwardian workhouse - the administration, the inmates and social life inside. We consider alternatives to the workhouse and how government legislation and social attitudes changed the treatment of the poor in the 20th century.

Spring course:-
Northamptonshire at War: Tutor: Mike Ingram.

Situated at its centre, Northamptonshire has always played an important part in English History. The course looks at its military history from the Boudiccan revolt of 69AD to the part played in World War II. Topics include the wars between the Saxons and Vikings, the two sieges of Northampton Castle, the Battles of Northampton and Naseby and the history of the Northamptonshire Regiment.
